PLEASE NOTE: There is up to a 10-14 business day lead time on the Hastings and the Fiesta grills.
After using it the first time I found it was impossible to snuff the coals as the temperature rose. I ended up having to leave the lid open for an extended period to avoid the grill staying in the red temperature zone. The front door for the firebox closest to the coals (about half full only) warped slightly on the first use. I guess it needs to be seasoned but I expect it to hold up to normal use easily and I should be able to snuff the fire to reduce the temperature without modifying the grill out of the box.
Hi Robert! We encourage you to watch our HB Fire Management video along with our most recent season of cooking videos done on a Hastings. Units this size have a different learning curve due to the amount of air inside the chamber and they definitely require some time to season due to being fully stainless steel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yMO-SRKul4&t=46s
Size does matter when you're cooking lots of food. Hastings is the way to go 100% I love it!
I have had mine for about 10 years and I cook on it at least 4 times a week so it has been well used to say the least. This thing is one of my prize possessions. I can cook for large crowds and the entire meal. Temperature control is amazing with the 2 heat zones. If you have cooked it anywhere I have probably cooked it on this as well.this thing is bullet proof and built to last a lifetime. If you feed a small army and want to feed them well this is the grill for you. It is a bit pricey but worth every cent.
Best feature, design and build quality of any BBQ. Period.
If you’re an herb or plant enthusiast, you likely visit one of the best Herb Festivals (Herbal Affair) in Sand Springs every year. If you’re a City employee for Sand Springs, you’ve come to expect the best lunch the Friday before the large special event. This all changed when we rolled out a black box with the little red letters “Hasty Bake”. Need I say more! The best ribs I had ever eaten was in 2007, and they came straight off a Hasty Bake. It’s my favorite thing to cook to this day, likely because it takes me back to the moment I realized I needed a new grill. The simplistic and compact design literally allows you to cook anything you want any way you want...all in one grill.
Now, back to the expectation of the best lunch ever provided for City employees. Word eventually got out. It must have floated across town in the form of the sweet aroma of Hasty Bake smoke. A few joined us each year, people that really like to eat food. And it’s grown to a City wide picnic on the Triangle every year where roughly 50 employees enjoy the best lunch of the year. This love affair has evolved over the years. It’s evolved in the form of multiple Hasty Bakes in different models. It’s evolved in keeping a Hasty Bake at work. It’s evolved into a competition BBQ Team. We feed volunteers off a Hasty, we even feed church groups for free to see the same reaction I witnessed in 2007... “Those are the best ribs I’ve ever eaten”!
