Used the 259 with the charcoal divider. Smoked for 12 straight hours with 0 issues at 225. Tons of space for grilling as well.
It snuffs out the coals in a short time.
A real charcoal saver.
I've used my new Strangler everytime I use my HB 259. I can tell you the days after I use it, there is 2 times more than before unburn charcoal in the fire chamber. It really woks well over my expactations! Thank you HB!
At the end of BBQing day, it's very helpful to have a way to more rapidly bring the heat down and extinguish the coals. This does it. To get the best results, you'll need to lower the charcoal tray all the way down into the ash bed and also close lid and all vents. It's great that HB thought of creating this piece. Their thinking on this product is excellent!
The fire strangler works great. It dropped the grill temperature from 350 to 150 in an hour, and I have a lot more charcoal left over than I usually do.
To get the best results, make sure you have a healthy bed of ash (I have about 2 inches), insert the fire strangler, lower your firebox all the way, and close the air intake vents.
