Hasty Bake Pro Series Heat Deflector
Description
Step up from the standard-issue Hasty Bake heat deflector with this newly released Pro model that is 35% longer. This allows you to add more coal for longer burns and smoke over a larger area without risk of fire burning the meat above it.
An easy-to-use access door with lift handle allows you to manage your fire or add fuel or wood with ease, and an elongated tail keeps the heat and air moving forward, rather than seeping out of the back. It also ensures that air is entering your firebox from underneath, slowing your burn times and recovering heat much quicker when you open your door. All together, you have a deflector that helps your fire burn longer, more efficiently, and with much more control. Made of heavy-duty stainless steel, this deflector may be the last one you ever need.
We recommend using heavy duty welding/bbq gloves when managing your fire or handling this heat deflector when grill is lit.
*Fits all full-sized, rolling Hasty Bake grills (131 Legacy, 132 Legacy, 256/257 Gourmet, 258/259 Gourmet Pro, and 357 Pro (standard issue on 357 Pro as of 12/21).

Let's Flip The Script On Charcoal Grills
I looked at Hasty Bake grills for several years before I decided to pull the trigger. I am glad I finally did. So far I’ve owned it for a little over a week and have done two cooks on it. I grilled burgers and hot dogs first. Then secondly, I did a low and slow smoke on a slab of ribs and brisket. Both times the grill performed great! One of the main complaints of the legacy is that it cannot do a low and slow smoke. This was not true for me! I used the snake method for the brisket and ribs cook. It worked great and maintained 250-275 the entire time. I think it matters how much lit charcoal you start out with. The only complaint I really have is the grill’s efficiency. It’s not an air tight unit, therefore air is constantly convecting through the grill, which means it burns up charcoal quick. I did a full snake and it only lasted about 7 hours or so, which is about halfway for a brisket. It wasn’t a pain to refill it but it is something to think about. I was using Kingsford as well as competition char logs, so maybe the Kingsford burned up quicker. Either way, you can just plan to use a lot of charcoal on a long cook. But the results in my opinion made it worth it. The brisket turned out great! My entire family noticed a difference in the result.
The Legacy 131 is incredibly well built. I was super pleased with the quality and workmanship of all of the components and metal. I thought the lift mechanism would be kinda cheap, but that component is STOUT! Don’t skip out on this grill because you think a moving part will break quick. The metal used in that component is super great quality, as is the rest of the grill. I am looking forward to future cooks.
I’ve used my new legacy Hasty Bake 3 times so far since I received it a couple weeks ago. I’m really enjoying it. It took me a couple cooks to figure out how much fuel I needed to heat it to the desired temperature, but once I figured it out, the legacy holds temperature extremely well. Smoked a turkey for Thanksgiving and it held 275 +\- 1 degree for hours. Can’t wait to see all the things I can do with the Hasty Bake.
I’ve tried the updated/new HB Pro Heat Shield in place of my original heat shield that I have used since 2003 and have found it to be a great benefit for when I SMOKE my various cuts of meats…
I like the added feature to my smoker!!! I can't wait to use it
I got the hinge deflector and have no idea which way it goes in. Hasty Bake needs to show a picture of which way it goes in and maybe a video on how to use. I'm sure I will like it after using the old deflector for 35 years.
